Fred Sandback showed how easily space can be altered. Even with the slightest addition of an acrylic string the space can have a different feel. Such subtleties demonstrate the fragility of space. Through the process of creating space, designing space, everything changes the outcome. Just like Fred Sanback showed even strings can create a wall.

  1. I like your exploration of Sandback here, though I wonder about how the space was altered by this installation specifically. Why and how does this show the "fragility of space" and what does it mean to say that space is fragile? How is your material a manifestation of this idea? How can string function as a wall? Try to attend to specifics as much as possible in your analysis of space & design, and ask how and why questions to develop your concepts as much as possible. Finally--You must create two blogs for the two classes as instructed. They should be separate for the purpose of conceptualizing your work for each class and they have to be separate for the purpose of tracking and grading your work. This will affect your grades if this is not done by now.
